In Focus: A Time To Remember
Rememberance Day 2002
During the weekend of January 18-20, 2002 Flipper Chapel AME Church will mark its 2nd Annual Rememberance Day Observance: "Remembering those who gave us love and guidance and blessed us with a legacy of dedication and compassion". With the events of recent months, this years' occasion is certain to be one of tremendous poignance and reflection. Not only shall we be paying homage to those dedicated and beloved Flipperites who are no longer among us and whose service to our humble church should never be forgotten, but we shall also remember those affected by the tragedy of September 11th and continually pray for our Nation's deliverance from these times of great trepidation and our heroic service personnel at home and abroad. This year the event, sponsored by the Diamond Jubilee Committee, will specifically pay honor to the late Bro. Johnny Brown, Sis. Crecie Hinton, Bro. L.V. Hobbs, Sis. Bonnie Jackson, Sis. Carrie Rush, and Sis. Mattie Shuler. The 2002 Remembrance Day Observance will begin on Saturday, Jan 19 with a special prayer breakfast at 8:30am with the family and loved ones of our 2002 honorees as our special guests. This will be followed by an uplifting worship service on Sunday, Jan 20 featuring Rev. Y. Benjamin Bruce as the keynote speaker and a special candlelighting ceremony. As is tradition, those Flipperites interested in paying tribute to recently departed loved ones during the service should submit their names to the committee.
